Basic Finnish Club is a 39-lesson self-study course for beginners, divided into four modules. It includes lessons, exercises, quizzes, additional learning resources and access to our learning community. After completing the course and final quiz, you will receive a certificate of completion.
The course has been designed by a qualified Finnish language teacher to give you a clear, step-by-step learning path. It combines Waltari Education's own materials with carefully selected online resources, so you can build a strong foundation in Finnish without having to figure out what to study next.

Hello, I’m Riikka Waltari, your Finnish teacher and the host of this club. I’ve designed the learning journey to start from the very basics, progressing step-by-step with a structured approach that focuses on the key essentials for beginners. Take your time and study the materials at your own pace. The topics include the Finnish alphabet, the unique features of the language, numbers and prices, greetings, verbs, question words, days of the week etc. along with regular review sessions to reinforce what you’ve learned. Everything is done online, so you can learn from wherever you are. While you’re learning at your own pace, know that I’m here to support and guide you through your Finnish learning journey.
